In an appearance on The Tonight Show Thursday night, Fox host Megyn Kelly previewed a segment of her interview with Donald Trump.
Kelly said she reached out to the presumptive GOP nominee in April after the months-long Twitter-based acrimony from Trump seemed to have died down. “I knew if I could get face to face with him […] that I could speak to him,” Kelly told Jimmy Fallon.
The feud between them began during the first GOP debate in August, when Kelly, who was co-moderating, called Trump to task for comments he had made about women’s appearance. Trump responded, “Honestly, Megyn, if you don’t like it — I’m sorry. I’ve been very nice to you, although I could probably maybe not be based on the way you’ve treated me.”
He accused her of being “unfair,” and in the months that followed attacked her worth and credibility most often on Twitter rampage, where he labeled her “crazy,” “sick,” and “overrated” among other things; and even criticized Kelly on her own network when speaking to Bill O’Reilly.
In the sneak-peek, Kelly challenged Trump on his complaints that journalists were not “nice” enough to him. “It’s not a cocktail party,” Kelly said.
The full interview will air on Fox — the Broadcast Network, not the News Channel — Tuesday at 8 p.m.
