When The Tonight Show‘s Jimmy Fallon was looking for a house band, he asked his friend Neal Brennan if he had any ideas. Brennan suggested he call The Roots. Jimmy asked,
Jimmy asked, “Do you think the Roots would do it?”
Neil answered, “No! But they might know someone that would do it.”
Fast forward, The Roots are, of course, Fallon’s house band, and Questlove has become New York City’s coolest person. Between his residency at the Brooklyn Bowl, hanging with the likes of Fallon and his food salons, he’s one of the most influential people in a huge variety of fields. His book, Something to Food About came out in April and last night he talked with Fallon about everything, from that time he did a literal spit-take on TV to how he became so interested in food.
